4 Easy Steps to Transfer Your Home Insurance
So, you have wisely decided to transfer your home insurance to Ryan Everet Insurance and your mortgage company pays your homeowners insurance through an escrow account. Here are the steps to make this move as simple as possible:
Step 1. – Start your new policy with us.
Step 2. – Submit your new insurance policy to your current mortgage company and/or call the mortgage company to provide verbal authorization of the change to your home insurance. This allows them to pay for your new policy out of your escrow account.
Step 3. – Cancel the old policy with your prior insurance company effective the same date as your new policy starts to avoid a lapse in coverage.
Step 4. – Forward any pro-rated money refunded to you by your old insurance company to your mortgage company to put back into your escrow account. This will keep your mortgage payments from increasing unnecessarily because you have a shortage in your escrow account.
As always, ask questions if you have ‘em!
